I just finished this book, Grave Secret by Charlaine Harris (hence the True Blood icon) and just needed to talk about it a little bit.  I don't know if anyone out in LJ land reads this series, but I know no one IRL does either, so this seemed as good a place as any to talk about it.

I can't find any solid evidence online that this book is the last in the series, but if it is I'm going to be sad.  I've really grown attached to Harper and Tolliver, and their complicated relationship and lives.  I loved the idea of someone who can "feel" dead bodies and uses it to her advantage.  I felt, though, at the end of this book, everything was so neatly wrapped up that if she continues the series, I'm not sure what she'll write about.  Typically, if there's a big underlying arc that spans many books and it's wrapped up, then the series is over.  Harry finally kills Voldemort = no more Harry Potter books.  The One Ring is destroyed = no more Lord of the Rings. 

Not that the Harper Connelly series is comparable to those series I've just mentioned, but still you get the point.

I don't want to go too spoilery, but if there is anyone out there on the flist that reads them, I'd love to chat and see what you think.

Now I need a new book.  I picked up The Time Traveler's Wife based on my college roommates' recommendation, and I looked for "Graceling" when I was out shopping Saturday but couldn't find it in either of the bookstores I went to.  I may just have to order it.  I'm thinking of re-reading the Sookie Stackhouse series, now that True Blood is over I feel a need to get an Eric fix.  Plus, they're just fun, easy to read books that I really enjoy.

I think I need a kindle.  That way I could carry my favorite books around with me wherever I go!

You know, I've only been in the TMI fandom for a month or so. I'd heard talk about Alex Pettyfer. I'd seen pictures in icons, banners, wallpapers, etc. But I'd never really given him much thought. Then I saw this:





And now I officially find him HOT. I had no idea how hot he is. Good grief.

I feel like a dirty old woman to be 26 and finding a 19 year old that attractive.

I started a meme the other day where you start up your mp3 player, and write a drabble for whatever song comes up. Thing is, you only have the length of the song to write it then you have to stop. I, apparently, am incapable of doing this. I was constantly cheating, and going back to tweak things on the ones I had written. So, I never finished within the time frame. You're supposed to do 10, but I only finished 4. I really like them though, so I decided to post them anyway!

"You're right."

Jace's mouth hung open loosely.  "Excuse me?" he sputtered.

"I said, you're right.  It's all about Simon. Always has been. No use arguing about it anymore.  I refuse to leave New York because, secretly, I never got over Simon."  Clary wondered if Jace had noticed the twitch in her cheek where she was trying to keep from smiling.

Apparently he had, because his eyes narrowed and took on a mischievous gleam.  "Is that so?" he said slowly, closing the distance between them.  "It's Simon that you think about when I do this?"  He raised an eyebrow, then lowered his head to place a feather light kiss on the corner of her lips. 

"And this?"  Jace's lips traveled down, towards her throat, trailing white hot kisses until he reached the curve between her neck and shoulder.  He continued until he came to the sensitive skin behind her ear.  He whispered, his breath tickling her skin and sending more waves of pleasure through her body, "still thinking of Simon?"  His voice was thick, but still held a conceited tone.

Clary felt her knees go weak, but managed to mutter, "Yep, all Simon."

She watched through heavily lidded eyes as Jace lifted his head back up to look at her.  "I find that very difficult to believe.  However, I'm never one to back down from a challenge, and this, dear Clary, is definitely a challenge."

He lowered his mouth to hers and began exploring her mouth.  He was teasing at first, light quick kisses that quickly developed into something deeper.  She sighed and he took the opportunity to dart his tongue in to taste her more fully.  She found herself taking a step backwards until she felt her back touch the wall behind her.  Jace continued the assault on her mouth and his hands snaked under her shirt to rub his hands against the small of her back.  He pulled her harder against him and all coherent thought left her.  Clary raised her arms and tangled her hands in Jace's golden hair, pulling his mouth even closer to her own. 

When Jace finally pulled back, his face looked slightly flushed.  Clary would have enjoyed the sight had there not been a smirk on his lips.  With a wink, he said "I think that'll do it." and turned down the hall.  Clary slowed her breathing, straightened her clothes and began to walk down the hall.  Suddenly she stopped as a thought crossed her mind.  With a frustrated stomp of her foot, she realized he had still managed to get the last word.

Another short fic...some Jace and Clary angst.  Why do I find it so much hotter to write them during CoA?  Does that say something about me?
